If you are going over your flight information and come across seat options that fall under the "preferred" category or other paid categories, there is no obligation to make a selection. The airline will assign you a seat at no extra cost when you reach the gate. Keep in mind that if you choose to invest in the preferred seats, the cost will be incurred on your end. Team Rubicon may need to change or cancel your flights due to evolving situation on the ground, upgrades and preferred seating will not be reimbursed.
You are able, but not required, to add your Known Traveler number (TSA PreCheck) and/or mileage/rewards program info to your flight on the airline's website for most airlines.
