It is up to the individual handler to weigh the risk of exposure and ability to perform the assigned work with the necessity of needing a service animal. There are inherent risks to humans and animals in a disaster zone.Team Rubicon mitigates risk by requiring members to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that Team Rubicon provides, but TR will not provide PPE for service dogs.
If a handler chooses to not take a service dog in the field, it is his/her responsibility to secure the service dog and provide adequate supervision.Team Rubicon is not responsible for, nor will it provide, resources to supervise a service animal.
